Superintendent's Monthly Message

February 2015

Dear Union School District Parents and Friends,

At our recent Board meeting, I shared with the Union School District Board of Trustees my decision to retire at the end of this school year. This was a very difficult decision for me to make because I have loved having the opportunity to serve as superintendent of this amazing district. Working with the talented, dedicated, and professional staff, and the supportive board and community to provide a top-notch education for all of our students has been the highlight of my over 40 years in the field of education.

Nine years ago I was selected to serve as the superintendent of USD. I want to thank the Board for their confidence in my abilities and for their unwavering support.  I am grateful for the fine work done by the district office staff and the many caring teachers, administrators, and staff members who work hard to ensure that our schools are second to none. I sincerely believe that there is no better school district than Union School District, and I am so very proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of it.

I will greatly miss working with the extraordinary team of faculty and staff members and the supportive parent community here in Union. Because of their caring, concern and commitment, our students are among the very finest young people to be found.  I will genuinely miss seeing their smiling faces and their enthusiasm and energy.

Thank you for the opportunity to be the superintendent of Union School District. I will leave with a great deal of pride in what we have accomplished as a district over the past nine years.  I know that in the next five months we will continue to do even more great work together. Although once I retire I may not officially be a part of Union School District, USD will always be a cherished part of me.
